Giving Back to the Commons

I build and release free, open source apps — privacy-first tools that run locally on your machine. No subscriptions, no data harvesting, no lock-in.

Almost everything I've built my career on stands on open source. The languages, the libraries, the tools, the knowledge shared freely by people I'll never meet — none of it asked for anything in return. That generosity is the reason any of us can build at all.

So I contribute back. Releasing software for free and open isn't charity to me, it's how the ecosystem stays healthy. The best ideas should be inspectable, forkable, and improvable by anyone, not locked behind a paywall or a privacy policy you never read.

I care especially about local-first, private tools. The apps below all run on your own machine — your data never leaves your control. That's not a feature, it's a principle. If a tool needs your most personal data to be useful, you should be able to see exactly what it does with it.

Beside

Local AI memory that records your day

Beside is a local-first AI memory that quietly records your day and lets you ask it anything later. It captures the context of what you worked on, read, and talked about, then turns it into a searchable memory you actually own.

Everything runs on your machine. Nothing is shipped off to someone else's cloud, so your day stays yours. It's the kind of tool I always wanted but never trusted a closed product to build responsibly.

OpenWhisper

Local Whisper Flow alternative

OpenWhisper is a free, open alternative to Whisper Flow — fast, accurate voice-to-text that runs entirely on your device. Hit a shortcut, talk, and your words appear wherever your cursor is.

Dictation tools shouldn't cost a subscription or send your voice to a server. OpenWhisper proves you can have great speech-to-text that's private, local, and free.

TextSnap

One shortcut to replace and improve any text using AI

TextSnap is one shortcut that replaces and improves any text using AI, anywhere you type. Select text, trigger it, and get a cleaner, clearer version in place — no copy-pasting into a chat window.

It's what Grammarly was supposed to be: instant, everywhere, and respectful of your writing. Free and open, so it stays a tool that works for you rather than against you.
